Pair arrested after drugs found in car search

Two women have been arrested after police found “a significant quantity” of drugs in a car in Nottingham city centre.

Officers were on a routine patrol when the car was stopped in Wollaton Street at 18:40 BST on Thursday, Nottinghamshire Police said.

Following a search of the vehicle officers found cannabis and drugs believed to be cocaine and MDMA, the force said. Mobile phones and cash were also recovered.

Two women, both aged 25, were arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

Police said a subsequent search of a property elsewhere in the city resulted in the seizure of additional drugs, cash and associated paraphernalia.

Sgt Matt Daley added: “We suspected this vehicle of being involved in the movement of illegal substances and very soon had our suspicions confirmed.”
